Jack Mackenroth se ha convertido durante la última década en un portavoz que visibiliza y pretende erradicar con el estigma alrededor del VIH/SIDA

A partir de su reconocimiento públicamente como persona VIH positivo en el año 2008 siendo aún participante de The Runway Project, Jack Mackenroth empezó a adoptar como trabajo personal un rol más activista en torno al tema, colaborando con varias organizaciones sin ánimo de lucro relacionadas.

“No me importa ser un chico VIH. Era consciente de lo que estaba haciendo cuando salí a la televisión nacional hace una década, porque la conversación sobre el VIH prácticamente había desaparecido de la televisión convencional”.

HIV is sexually transmitted (primarily), so I address it in a sexy way. I’ve been HIV positive and undetectable for 29 years. Hopefully I can be an example that HIV does not make you “less than”. It is not shameful and if you are diagnosed early and get on meds, most likely, you will live a totally normal life. This is also a reminder that you can’t tell someone’s HIV status by looking at them. Everyone should know their HIV status and in MY opinion if you are negative, in a high risk population, and sexual active you should be on PrEP. A la edad de 19 años fue diagnosticado con el VIH, lo cual le llevó a no preocuparse por planificar su futuro.

“Pensé que iba a morir a los 25, mi novio murió a los 27 años. Hasta mis 30 años, no estaba planeando el futuro. Fue durante la última década, cuando dije ‘voy a  vivir’ Necesito planificar para el futuro”.

Recientemente se ha convertido en un atractivo en sus redes, con fotos bastante llamativas y ligeras de ropa donde sus más de mil seguidores pueden apreciar su bien trabajado cuerpo. Abriendo a la par una cuenta en Onlyfas.com donde comparte material más explicito.

También ha afirmado que ya acercándose a sus 50 años de edad, desea tomarse un descanso del activismo, pues es algo que requiere mucho trabajo y que realmente no es muy bien pago, además de desgastante. Pero será un trabajo que siempre llevará en el corazón. Ha terminado sus estudios en enfermería y dentro de su proyección no descarta seguir brindando ayuda a quien se acerque en busca de ella.
